Cooking Classes in Rincon Puerto Rico
Puerto Rico has a distinct food culture that you’ll be hard pressed to match anywhere else in the world. The local cuisine is influenced by Spanish, Caribbean and International flavors as well as the colorful local produce, fresh fish and fiery style that can only be found in Puerto Rico. Learn how to create some traditional Puerto Rican dishes with a tasty twist and gain a better understanding of local culture with Puerto Rican Cooking Classes while you’re in Rincon.
Tour Option 1: Puerto Rican Cooking Class
Learn how to cook like a local with a Puerto Rican cooking class hosted by one of our talented local chefs. The class will focus on Puerto Rican basics, including some of the following: working with plantains and viandas, mofongo, Puerto Rican fritters, ‘asado’ techniques, how to prepare churrasco, traditional sauces (sofritos) and fish preparation and more. The class will be both demonstration and hands-on, to give students a chance to experiment. The chef can host your group for private cooking classes at home in your villa and will design the lesson and meal around your personal tastes. Vegan and vegetarian options available.
- Tour Time: Upon Request
- Tour Duration: 2.5 hours
- Tour Cost: $200.00 per class (1 – 4 students). Request a bid for larger groups or custom menus.
Important Notes: Class can be hosted at your personal villa or a location provided by chef. Cooking class includes cost of all food and materials. Class includes a sampling of all food, but not a “full” meal – this can be included for additional cost. 100% non-refundable if cancelled within 7 days. Taxes and fees not included. Rates subject to change at any time.
Tour Option 2: ‘Mofongo & Mojitos’ Gastronomic Tour of Old San Juan
This one-of-a-kind tour will give students a chance to explore Old San Juan, followed by a cooking class and multi-course meal. Start your tour with a guided, historic walking tour of the sights in Old San Juan, where your tour guide will explain the history of the island and the city of San Juan as well as allowing guests time to shop in many of the unique shops in the neighborhood. Then, head to a beautiful hotel restaurant where the class will begin with instruction on how to prepare a traditional Puerto Rican mofongo. Each student will be able to create their own mofongo, using a traditional ‘pilon’ technique, which will then be served as a main course. While the mofongo is cooking, students will enjoy a serving of traditional Puerto Rican appetizers or soup, fresh mint mojitos and a second course of green salad. The mofongo is served, followed by a dessert of flan or tres leches cake and Puerto Rican cafe con leche.

Hello,
My husband and I along with our three teenaged sons will be in Rincon for the week of June 9th thru June 16th (departure). Our fifteen year old loves to cook but doesnt like the ocean and requested the ability to take some cooking lessons while in PR. We found the “organic surfer chef”! We would love more information about booking a class in our villa during our stay.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon,
Teresa
Hi Teresa, Justin sent you some information on classes, if there is anything else you need don’t hesitate to call. See you in June!
Hello,
My newly wed friends live in Guaynabo and I would like to give them a cooking lesson as a wedding gift. Please let me know if you guys can reach this destination and more information on your services.
Thanks!
Edeliz
Hi Edeliz – We are in contact with the chef to see if he is willing to travel to Guaynabo – we will email you soon with details. Thanks!
I was looking to book a Rinco cooking class but was looking for some additional information. We are staying at the Rinco of the Seas so we do not have a kitchen available to us. Can the class be done at locally at your facilities. We were looking for something Feb 19, 20 or 21 for 3 of us. Would it still be $200? How much extra if we wanted it to include a full meal. Are your instructor able to teach the class in English?
Thank you
Hi Karl, Yes, we can arrange for the chef to host the class somewhere if you do not have a kitchen. We’ll be in touch via email with more details. Thanks!!
