Fresh & Inspired Tapas in Rincon

If we had a staff pick for favorite dining in Rincon PR, this just might be it. The Tapas Bar at Casa Islena is a small gem that has earned a big reputation in the past few years. With a creative menu featuring only the freshest local ingredients (imagine green papaya salad made from fruit off of your neighbor’s tree), the Tapas Bar has style and flavors that you rarely find in small beach towns. The elegant, yet laid back atmosphere is ideal for enjoying luscious tapas under the night sky and the staff is some of the most friendly and charming you’ll find in Rincon. Like any good restaurant, the menu is ever-changing, but keep an eye out for fresh local seafood (read: swordfish kebobs in a coconut curry sauce), organic greens and inventive meat dishes (skirt steak marinated in ginger, garlic and soy). Wash it all down with a good glass of wine or their famous orange-ginger sangria. The Tapas Bar has acquired the Best Food and Beverage Award from the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, a write-up in Budget Travel Magazine, and great reviews on TripAdvisor.  If you have an adventurous palate, don’t forget about Sunday brunch, featuring Southwest-inspired breakfast items such as hash with confit pork belly, posole with a poached egg. Of course there’s also savory crepes, spicy huevos rancheros, a traditional monte cristo and a big ol’ quiche.  During holidays and special events the Tapas Bar features amazing pre-fixe menus for a real splurge.
